Mandatory Entry Level Training Program

Mandatory training for new Class 1 commercial drivers will result in safer,
more highly skilled drivers working in the truck and bus industries.

Effective March 01, 2019, drivers seeking a Class 1 (tractor trailer) license are required to complete Mandatory Entry-Level Training to apply for their license.

Training includes a government-mandated number of training hours in-class, in-yard and in-vehicle.
Standardized curriculums are taught at all licensed Alberta driving schools.
Knowledge and road tests for Class 1 drivers will be comprised of the new curriculum.
